Avengers: Age of Ultron star Robert Downey Jr. has revealed what he was thinking prior to walking out of an interview with U.K. reporter Krishnan-Guru-Murthy and vows to deal with interviewers like this differently in the future to avoid a possible physical altercation.
In the video, which has since gone viral, Guru-Murthy begins to question Robert about his past drug problems, which leads to the actor becoming visibly annoyed and abruptly walking out of the interview.
Robert spoke to none other than Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show earlier today about what happened, saying, “I just wish I’d left sooner.”
“I’m one of those guys, who I’m always assuming the social kind of decorum is in play and that we’re promoting a superhero movie, a lot of kids are going to see it,” Robert explained. “And that this has nothing to do with your creepy, dark agenda that I’m feeling all of a sudden like ashamed and obligated to accommodate your weirdo shit.”
He added, “So I just realized I’m a 50-year-old guy, I use fancy words and yet I’m completely unevolved when it comes down to simple boundaries. Like, ‘You know what? You’re weirding me out. You are a bottom-feeding muckraker.'”
Stern told Robert he should have just walked out, saying, “So you stand up and you say, You know what? ‘I’ve had enough.'”
Robert admitted, “Yeah, but my heart’s beating in my chest ’cause I go, this the first interview of the day, I didn’t know what to expect… What I have to do in the future is I just have to give myself permission to say, ‘That is more than likely a syphilitic parasite, and I need to distance myself from this clown. Otherwise, I’m probably going to put hands on somebody, and then there’s a real story.'” ~Andree Rhooms

Or simply say “We are supposed to be promoting the interview here, call me when you want to honor that agreement!”. Then you simply get up and walk out. Don’t look back and don’t engage.
Bravo Robert. You should stand up for yourself and take pride in overcoming a difficult past.
Wtg, Robert. Your life has already been dissected. That guy is an idiot. And he probably doesn’t even know it.
Besides, Krishnan Guru-Murt…whatever came across as a real as-hole.
