Roommate tops box office on Super Bowl weekend

Audience attendance at theatres was down due to the Super Bowl, but the new thriller The Roommate topped the slow weekend box office with an estimated take of $15.6 million (all figures U.S.), earning a rating of 3.7 out of 5 stars from Tribute users. The 3D underwater adventure Sanctum debuted in second place with $9.2 million and a Tribute user rating of 2.7 stars. No Strings Attached, starring Golden Globe winner Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, dropped one spot to third place with estimated earnings of $8.4 million in its third weekend, and a Tribute user rating of 3.8 stars. The award-winning film The King’s Speech, which has a Tribute user rating of 4.4 stars, continues to rise at the box office, climbing to fourth place and taking in an additional $8.3 million for an 11-week total of $84 million. The Green Hornet rounded out the top five, grossing an additional $6.1 million (Tribute user rating 3.9 stars).
