Russell Crowe refuses to shower

If you’ve ever asked yourself whether Russell Crowe would be willing to sacrifice personal hygiene for a role, you now have your answer: absolutely. While filming in Iceland for Darren Aronofsky‘s epic retelling of Noah’s Ark (Noah), Crowe has reportedly been shunning any modern inventions in order to stay in character throughout the shoot, a source tells The National Enquirer. “He’s been experimenting with skipping showers, which is something he did on Gladiator as well, to get an appropriately gritty look,” the source says. “He has to look like a very old, very weathered man for this movie, but you don’t want to be inhaling when he walks past. He reeks!” In addition to the lack of bathing, Crowe has also apparently gained about 15 pounds for the role. “All of this is combining to make a potpourri of foulness,” the source concluded, “and everyone is counting down the days until the project is done!” Aronofsky’s bizarre Noah adaptation (it includes 11-foot tall, six-armed angels known as “Watchers”) will feature a multi-installment graphic novel companion piece, and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 28, 2014. So I guess nobody actually bothered to read the Bible since it does mention people,including Noah, bathing. Perhaps showers were not available, but some sort of tub was. Guess Russell just likes stinking.
I think it says in the Bible that cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Since the is a movie base on Noah and he is a man of God… Who likes clean ness not smelly men ,, could tell me can you smell things with the new3D movies. ,,I would not want to smell a sweaty dirty man even if it is Russell Crowe..
Maybe it is a new green planet thing to save the earth’s water????
I also admire his dedication to his craft. Um and those who cite the bible, there are a few things you don’t discuss and one is religion.
Do you really believe everything you read, let alone everything you read in the bible and take it literally? So cleanliness might be godliness but it doesn’t mean everyone had access to soap and water. And Noah might have built a massive arc to hold 2 of each and every single animal to save them from flooding (yep uh huh that happened), but he was working at a furious pace to finish before the flood started. I guess the person writing the story (hopefully he witnessed it cause I’m sure it wasn’t watered down -pun intended- so to speak and exaggerated) didn’t drown in the world wide flooding. so happy this story could finally be told the way it was meant to be. 😉
So the showering MIGHT actually not have happened until there was an over abundance of water provided by the Lord.

It appears he likes to do the roles as close in those times. Sorry to say but in those times werent so clean and they probably didnt smell good either. I recall history saying people would dump their urine out from their windows, gross. the streets wouldnt smell nice either.

I think it’s weird how in some movies when people should be dirty/hair messed etc., they look like they just stepped out of a shower/came from the hairdresser. So, good for him and for the team working on the film. Stars always look way too good. It’s nice for once to have them looking the way actual people look.
I find it difficult to believe a story by the Enquirer, I mean they don’t exactly have a great reputation and most stories are geared toward drama and discussion, regardless, Russell Crowe is an incredible actor and whatever he feels is necessary to achieve a realistic character I say Bravo! Why do we critique actors so much? Is it just because of their profession or is it this desire within society that draws us into the private lives of famous people? Food for thought.
He is the best actor of this generation,, good for him if thats what he feels he needs to do to really portray the part,,, 2 thumbs up.
