The 26th annual SAG Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night. The SAG-AFTRA presented awards in 15 categories, honoring the year’s best acting performances in film and TV.
South Korea’s Parasite (pictured above) won the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture prize. The film made history as it became the first foreign language film to win this award.
As expected by many, Joaquin Phoenix took home the award for Best Actor, Drama for his turn as Joker, while Renée Zellweger won Best Actress, Drama for Judy. In the supporting categories, Laura Dern won for her portrayal of a divorce lawyer in Netflix’s Marriage Story, while Brad Pitt won for Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, beating out Tom Hanks, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Jamie Foxx.
Brad has been delivering award-worthy speeches this year. Last night, he once again cracked up the audience saying, “I’m going to add this to my Tinder profile. Thank you, my brothers, my sisters, this means so much—more than I can possibly fathom. I want you to know I watch everything, I watch you all, and the work has been mesmerizing, so I thank you. I want to thank my costars, Leo, Margot Robbie, Margot Robbie’s feet, Margaret Qualley’s feet, Dakota Fanning’s feet… seriously, Quentin has separated more women from their shoes than the TSA.”
He added, “Let’s be honest, it was a difficult part. Guy who gets high, takes his shirt off, and doesn’t get on with his wife? It was a big stretch.”
On the television side, Jennifer Aniston won for her portrayal of a morning show host on Apple Plus’ The Morning Show. Brad and Jennifer’s reunion backstage was instantly trending on social. There’s a viral image that has many rooting for the couple (see left).
