Charlize TheronThe big news at Summit’s Astro Boy panel, the new adaptation of a sci-fi cartoon classic, is that Samuel L. Jackson and Charlize Theron will lend their voices to the cast.

Just before Summit unveiled the new trailer for the movie, the studio announced that two new actors had signed on to join Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell and Freddie Highmore.

Alhtough it was not revealed as to what characters Samuel L. Jackson and Charlize Theron will be voicing, it is said that they will be prominent characters.

The trailer for Astro Boy featured amazing CG-animated footage of the boy robot, an enormous “Peacekeeper” evil robot, and even depicted a moment when Astro Boy discovers that he has machine guns in his butt – literally turning to stare at them with incredulity and saying, “I’ve got machine guns… in my butt?!”

Er… the machine guns are in his hands/arms, not his butt.

No that is correct, the machine guns come out of his butt 🙂 – I remember Astro Boy form when I was a kid, and it looks like they are keeping it true to the original – so this should be worth the trek to the theatres 🙂

Huh. I thought his guns WERE in his hands/arms. Are you positive that they came outta his butt? Then again, that would be funny to see…
