In The Host (an adaptation of the book by Twilight author Stephenie Meyers), Saoirse Ronan plays an everyday girl caught in a love triangle between two eligible suitors—sound familiar? Well, don’t worry, because the Irish actress assures fans this isn’t Twilight but instead, a much deeper film. In a recent interview with the newspaper, Irish Independent, Ronan says she understands she’ll be offered romantic roles, but she is far more concerned with the quality of the writing. “It’s a given at this stage that romantic stories are going to be offered to me but I’m more interested in the story and characters. It’s just not important if there are love scenes in it.” In the movie, the 18-year-old actress who made a name for herself in films like Atonement and The Lovely Bones plays Melanie Stryder, a teenage rebel whose body is taken over by the spirit of an alien invader. Things become complicated when her otherworldly alter-ego falls in love with someone other than Melanie’s own love interest. The film is scheduled for a March 29, 2013 release. ~Kyle Sharp
