Sharon Stone sued for racist remarks

Sharon Stone will need some basic instincts to get out of this one. The 54-year-old actress is being sued by her former nanny for making racist remarks. Erlinda Elemen, a Filipino nanny who spent more than five years working in the Catwoman star’s home, is suing for unpaid wages, damages and penalties after Stone turned her home into a hostile workplace and belittled Elemen’s background. In the civil complaint, Elemen claims Stone called Filipino people “stupid” and forbid her from speaking to her children because she didn’t want them to talk like her. “By her conduct, the actress made Elemen feel as if her ethnicity was offensive and would somehow adversely affect her children’s upbringing,” said the nanny’s attorney, Solomon Gresen in a statement to the Los Angeles Times. Elemen also says Stone criticized her religious beliefs and refused to let her read the Bible in her home. Despite the contentious work environment, she continued to work for the actress because of her “wonderful” relationship with her children. However, in 2011 Stone found out Elemen was being paid overtime and demanded she return the money despite working seven days a week. When Elemen refused, she was fired. ~Kyle Sharp
