Shia LaBeouf says he’s done making blockbusters

Actor Shia LaBeouf has never been one to hold back his opinions, such as when he slammed Steven Spielberg at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, saying that the director “dropped the ball” with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. More recently, the 26-year-old actor blasted Hollywood studios in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s no room for being a visionary in the studio system. It literally cannot exist,” he began. “[The studios] give you the money, then get on a plane and come to the set and stick a finger up your ass and chase you around for five months.” With that being said, LaBeouf will no longer be making blockbusters and will instead devote his career to indie films. This summer, the Transformers star will appear in Lawless, an indie film he also helped produce and he has a lineup of other upcoming indie films, including The Company You Keep and The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman. ~Isabelle Khoo

Steven Spielberg regrets Jaws film has decimated sharks

Steven Spielberg said during an interview for BBC Radio 4 that he truly regrets that his 1975 film Jaws has decimated shark populations around the world.
Yeah we’ll see how long the “indie”thing lasts. You live a lavish lifestyle, and can’t maintain it making indie flicks. Now if he was smart with his money, then go for it.
Can’t really blame him. Everyone complains about their job whether they make minimum wage or millions. I’m excited to see him in some ‘out there’ roles!
I was wondering where he ran away to. I think it’s nice that he is now so passionate about indie films. Maybe he’ll help some really good ones get noticed and acknowledged.

Oh Shia, cry me a river. There’s always going to be a problem with the system. Some times you have to learn to just suck it up and go with it. I bet the indie system isn’t quite as perfect as you think it is either. Guess you’ll be finding out soon enough

Wow, I completely forgot about shia until now…
I didn’t think “the system” really mattered to actors, considering they are just acting in the film. I feel like the system would really only affect the directors and their vision, rather than the actors themselves. So unless Shia is planning on directing a movie anytime soon, I doubt participating in blockbusters or indie films will make a difference.

Interesting career choice. I don’t think I know any well-known actors who just do indie films
no comment on how the industry is since I am not aware of exactly how it is, but doing what he thinks is best for himself, always a good thing. Big money or not, he will do what works for him. Lavish lifestyle? I can’t comment on that either since I really don’t know the man. All the best with your choice 🙂
What an ungrateful little bass-terd. Stephen Spielberg is the reason that Shia has his career – he gave him roles in multiple movies.
Translation: All his comments bashing studios and big name directors over the past few years have come back to bite him, and blockbusters are done with Shia LeBeouf, rather than the other way around. So he’s decided the best way to make it look like it was his decision was to show his ding-dong in a Sigur Ros video to prove his indie cred and then announce he is focusing on indie films from now on.
Well….you know that old saying about burning your bridges….here is hoping he does not any of these bridges in the future…..Dr. Quinn re-runs are not going to pay for the lifestyle.

the film where he played a golf legend was very good. his acting was excellent. never mind trashing hollywood. do your job and act. you can do that, right?????

Steven Spielberg is a great filmmaker but he made some clunkers, nothing wrong with saying it out right. It’s time we have someone who speaks his mind and not just the plane old boring interviews. How many times did we hear ” I work with a great cast, I’m fortunate, I hope people are entertained bla bla bla,” If you think the movie sucked, you say it.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a disaster, I’m sure Speilberg is mature enough to handle some truth and doesn’t take himself for God, he’s not a dictator. Bravo to TheBeef for being a free thinker and not a sycophant.

Also..Transformers 3 was just so, too much blockbuster action and no acting..another Spielberg flop…time for him to make an old style western or a comedy for a change and accept some input from people that are in tune with the 21st. century…shia..you act exactly the same way in all of your roles…time for some lessons may be…
I personally liked the last Indiana jones installment buuuut a lot of others didn’t. I’m sure that Spielberg has agreed that it’s a flop as well. I commend Shia for speaking his mind. There are WAY too many sheeple in this world and I’m glad to see he’s actually got a mind of his own and he’s not worried about the repercussions that he might face due to his opinions. And anyone who would judge him and call him ungrateful, do any of you work in Hollywood to know how things are run on sets? I doubt it so how can you call him ungrateful? NO ONE knows him personally so it’s not fair to pass judgement on him…it’s no different than if I started calling any of you things out of pure speculation. I mean everyone has their own opinions and some of you may think he’s a bad actor and that’s your right but when you start attacking the character of someone because he stands for what he believes in, that’s when it becomes judgement. I think we should wish him well in whatever he does and look forward to seeing what he does in the future…but that is only MY opinion 🙂
