Star Wars’ John Boyega to black Stormtrooper critics: ‘Get used to it’

John-Boyega-creditStar Wars fans were abuzz on social media on Friday when the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens dropped. However, a number of fans criticized the trailer for depicting a black Stormtrooper. The Stormtrooper in question, John Boyega, took to Instagram to address it. “To whom it may concern… get used to it,” he posted, adding a cheeky smiley face.

In Star Wars: Attack of the Clones it was revealed that the original Stormtroopers were clones of bounty hunter Jango Fett, played by Temuera Morrison, which has contributed to fan confusion. With still very little known about the plot, Stormtroopers may have taken on a very different role in the new trilogy. Fortunately, the Star Wars actor has also received a heavy dose of support for his appearance. “Thank you all for the love and support,” he wrote. “The fan mail and fan art has added to my joy… I’m in the movie but as a Star Wars fan I am very excited!”
