Steven Spielberg’s next film stars Bradley Cooper

Following his award-winning film Lincoln, Steven Spielberg‘s next project, American Sniper, is a film adaptation of Chris Kyle’s autobiography American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History. Kyle has been called the deadliest sniper in U.S. military history, with 160 confirmed kills. Sadly, Kyle and a friend were killed this past February at a gun range by 25-year-old fellow veteran Eddie Ray Routh, who was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. At the time of his death, he was also working on another book – American Gun: A History of the U.S. in Ten Firearms. Spielberg was working on his sci-fi thriller Robopocalypse, set to star Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway, but has put it on hold because he was unhappy with the script. He told EW.com, “We found that the film was costing a lot of money and I found a better way to tell the story more economically but also much more personally. I found the personal way into Robopocalypse, and so I just told everybody to go find other jobs, I’m starting on a new script and we’ll have this back on its feet soon.”

Silver Linings Playbook hunk Bradley Cooper will star in and produce the film. He recently dropped out of the production Jane Got a Gun due to conflicting schedules. He’s been busy with Serena and is currently filming David O. Russell’s film American Hustle. Cooper is also set to star in a romantic comedy by Cameron Crowe with Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams, which is currently in pre-production. ~E. Guevarra

Update: Steven Spielberg has dropped out of the project and Clint Eastwood has signed on to direct.
