Taylor Swift rumored to play Joni Mitchell

She may not have a ton of acting experience but we know she can sing, and if her successful music career and shining personality are any indication, then Taylor Swift may just be ready for a role as a leading lady, playing a famous musician. Sony Pictures and Di Bonaventura Pictures are in talks to create a film adaptation of Sheila Weller’s book Girls Like Us, which follows the careers of singers Carole King, Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell. Swift is reportedly in the running to play Mitchell. No official offer has been made yet but if the role pans out, it would be the first major acting gig for the 22-year-old country singer, who had a small part in 2010’s Valentine’s Day and voiced a character in Dr Seuss’ The Lorax. ~Renita Naraine

She really should just stick to music. Why do singers always feel the need to go into acting and vice versa. It’s really irritating!

Well…the fact that Joni Mitchell was a folk SINGER – the role requires someone who can actually carry a tune….I would have thought that would be obvious.

I cannot envision her playing Mitchell. She’s nothing like her. Joni’s music had substance. Swift’s music is nowhere near Mitchell’s. It would be an embarrassment.
