Its lead actor, Jean Dujardin, also won for best male lead — Dujardin has already earned a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA, and an Academy Award nomination for the role. Director Michel Hazanavicius and cinematographer Guillaume Schiffman also walked away with trophies for The Artist.

The Indie Awards, held this weekend, were hosted by Seth Rogen. Other big winners included Michelle Williams for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn, Shailene Woodley for her supporting role in The Descendants and Christopher Plummer won for Beginners.
