The Butler tops box office again

In its second week in theaters, Lee Daniels’ The Butler continued to rule the box office. With earnings of $17 million and a Tribute rating of 3.7 out of 5 stars, the film’s total gross earnings pushed to $50 million, making it Lee Daniels’ most successful film in North America to date. Raunchy comedy We’re the Millers, in its third week in the running, held on to the second spot at the box office, earning $13.5 million and a Tribute rating of 3.7 stars. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which opened on Wednesday, scored third place on the charts, earning $9.3 million and also a Tribute rating of 3.7 stars. Newcomer The World’s End debuted in fourth, bringing in $8.94 million and a high Tribute rating of 4.25 stars. Disney’s Planes rounded out the top five at the box office in its third week, bringing in $8.57 million with a Tribute rating of 4.3 stars. Also in the top 10 were Elysium, You’re Next, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Blue Jasmine and Kick-Ass 2.
