The Curse of La Llorona scares its way to top the box office

The Curse of La LloronaDebuting in first place was the terrifying film, The Curse of La Llorona. Following a social worker whose children are drawn into a frightening supernatural realm, the film garnered $26.5 million in its opening weekend.

Shazam! moved down a spot to second place in its third weekend at the box office. The superhero film earned an additional $17.3 million for a total of $121.3 million.

Breakthrough debuted in third place this weekend at the box office. The film based on Joyce Smith’s 2017 memoir, The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection, earned $11.1 million in its opening weekend.

In fourth place was the superhero film Captain Marvel, which made its way back into the top five at the weekend box office. The MCU film earned an additional $9.1 million for an impressive total of $400 million.

Rounding out the top five was the comedy Little, starring Regina Hall. The movie earned $8.5 million in its second week of release for a total of $29.4 million.~Emily Chavez

    Terrifying? My ass. La Llorona was lame, not scary at all. It’s bad enough that Hollywood hacks pump out this crap; what’s worse is paid hack shills masquerading as journalists who propagandize this garbage. Despicable.
