The Grand Seduction, starring beloved Canadian actor Gordon Pinsent (who will be 84 this July), has charmed Canadian audiences after just two weeks at the box office. Not only has the movie trailer been one of the most watched on Tribute over the last two weeks but the movie has earned over $1.25 million. Mark Slone, Executive Vice President of Entertainment One Films, expressed his delight at the ongoing success of the film, saying, “Most movies open big and fade away, but this comedy keeps growing. The Grand Seduction is a word-of-mouth hit.”
The plot revolves around a small Newfoundland coastal town whose residents are without work after their fishing industry dried up. Hope comes in the form of a manufacturing company that will set up shop but only if the town has a resident doctor. Brendan Gleeson plays a resident who leads the search to find a doctor for the town. When circumstances find Dr. Paul Lewis, played by Taylor Kitsch, arriving in town, hijinks ensue as the entire town tries to find ways to persuade Dr. Lewis to stay as their resident doctor. Look for a grumpy but lovable Gordon Pinsent to steal scenes playing Simon, who may or may not be helping the town with their mission. ~Andrea Hodgins

Ditch the Thanksgiving dinner dishes this weekend and head to the theater to see The Girl on the Train, The Birth of a Nation, The Adventure Club and more!
I liked the actors and the local but the film was a bit of a snore….
This movie is opening here in Sault Ste. Marie this week. I know I’ve already seen it. Was it on television, Netflix or somewhere else. My friends say that I couldn’t have seen it.
