Tom Cruise to replace Harrison Ford as Han Solo?

By Tribute on June 26, 2014 | 14 Comments

The rumor mill is in full swing for Star Wars: Episode VII. Several sources have confirmed that Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams met while Tom was in London over the weekend, and some are saying it was to discuss replacing the injured Harrison Ford in the movie. However, others insist they were only talking about the shooting schedule for Mission: Impossible 5. As Harrison takes up to five more weeks to recover from his injury from the Star Wars: Episode VII set, the British newspaper The Sun reported on June 23 as an exclusive, “Tom Cruise is in talks over a cameo role in the next Star Wars film,” which led fans to wonder if that was the truth or if Tom was negotiating taking over the role of Han Solo. Tom’s rep responded on June 24 by telling online news provider Gossip Cop that reports about his client appearing in the next Star Wars film are absolutely “false.” That hasn’t stopped the gossip. Do you think Tom Cruise would make a good Han Solo? ~Andrea Hodgins

Tom as Han Solo in Star Wars is just as ridiculous as Ben Affleck as Batman.

First the salary demands for Tom would be high….best to place the money in making the movie special effects.

Second, Tom is a so-so actor and could never replace Harrison Ford as Hans Solo…then again nobody could.

Last, it would be best to use a young actor in the role because if they plan on making more Star Wars movies the actor can replay the role in the next movies. People tend to identify a role to a specific actor. The actor that will replace Harrison Ford will have large shoes to fill. But if they change the actor at each new movie, the audience will lose interest and the role of Han Solo will lose its importance in the movie.

My friend says Tom would be a good choice.

I’m hoping they take time to let Harrison heal. No one could take his place. Or Mark Hamill’s or Carrie Fisher’s. I’m so excited to see the three of them back together in their characters in this film.

I suppose that the director can work in a scene where cruise, is running as fast as his stubby legs will take him, and oh yeah … A scene where he is shouting at the top of his lungs. That is about all I have seen this hollywood hero do in movies, for the last 25 years.
Let harrison ford heal up, and do the show. Shouldn’t this be the final show in this long line of mumbo-jumbo, where the stars finally make it back to their home base, to live happily ever after?

if they replace harrison ford, i won’t watch the movie…i know that may sound silly but i’ve been looking for to this since i heard about it.

i don’t dislike tom cruise, but there is NO way he could fill ford’s shoes…let’s just hope that the rumors are wrong, i mean really, it’s not like the 2 (abrams and cruise) couldn’t have been meeting for other reasons

This had better be a sick joke. I cannot think of one Star Wars fan who would want Cruise anywhere near the series, let alone in an iconic role.

I hate Tom Cruise, I will always hate him. He would be the worst choice for Star Wars in any roll and if JJ uses him i will never watch a single star wars movie ever made by JJ Abram.
