Tony Scott’s brother Ridley suspends filming

Following the shockingly tragic news this past Sunday that acclaimed director Tony Scott leaped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge to his death in San Pedro, California, comes the news that older brother and equally-famed director Ridley Scott has halted production on his star-studded upcoming film, The Counselor (whose leads include Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz and Penélope Cruz) in order to return to Los Angeles, where he has been mourning with his family. It has also been reported that earlier speculation about Scott suffering from a fatal brain tumor at the time of his suicide has been proven false.

As it turns out, the bridge Tony jumped from stands above a railway yard – the very same yard Scott once used to film portions of his Chris Pine / Denzel Washington-fronted thriller, Unstoppable. But the relationship doesn’t stop there. The bridge, which stands a mere 30 miles from the director’s Beverly Hills home, was also reported to be a possible location for Scott’s upcoming remake of the classic 1979 film, The Warriors. In a 2009 interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Scott claimed that he was “hoping to get 100,000 real gang members standing on the Vincent Thomas Bridge for one shot. I’ve met them all: Crips, Bloods, The 18th Street Gang, The Vietnamese and so on. They all love The Warriors.” ~Devin Garabedian

Weird and tragic. But I haven’t read anything about the contents of the apparent suicide note he left at his house…Why isn’t anyone reporting on that instead of further speculation? Or is there something in it that nobody wants the public to know?

So, if he wasn`t terminally ill and what not, why the HELL did he do this? 🙁

It could be that he was noticing an aggressive onset of dementia or alzheimers and wished to avoid making a fool of himself before dying anyhow.
