Tower Heist boasts an impressive array of stars, with Ben Stiller headlining the cast as Josh Kovacs, the manager of a swanky Manhattan condo. Josh loves his job and he’s good at it. When it turns out that one of the richest residents, Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda), has swindled billions from his investors, Josh doesn’t want to believe it at first. Shaw’s criminal activity has robbed many of the staffers (including Gabourey Sidibe as Odessa and Casey Affleck as Charlie) of their pensions, while one recently unemployed resident, Mr. Fitzhugh (Matthew Broderick) has been left penniless with his wife threatening divorce. When Josh finally faces the truth — that Shaw deliberately stole their money — he vows to get even, starting with bashing Shaw’s prized possession, a car that once belonged to Steve McQueen, with a golf club.

Josh then enlists the group of employees to commit an equally criminal act in order to get their money back, which he believes is hidden in a safe in Shaw’s apartment. Since none of them have the ability to crack a safe, they bail out petty crook Slide, hilariously played by Eddie Murphy, and hire him to guide them in their new endeavor.

For a comedy, the ending is somewhat somber, but the DVD boasts two alternate endings. They’re actually additions to the ending rather than “alternates,” extending the story 15 months down the road from where the movie originally ended. Other extras include a gag reel (a must for any DVD), deleted/alternate scenes, “Plotting Tower Heist” – a Tower Heist video diary, and a feature commentary with director Brett Ratner, editor Mark Helfrich and co-writers Ted Griffin and Jeff Nathanson. ~Alexandra Heilbron

This sounds like an interesting movie….lots of big movies. But i’m having a hard time believing Eddie Murphy has a bad guy.
