Joshua Jackson presented the Tribute.ca sponsored award for Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role to Karine Vanasse of Polytechnique, and five-time Genie award winner Martha Henry presented the Tribute.ca sponsored award for Achievement in Direction to Denis Villeneuve, also for Polytechnique. Polytechnique, about the December 6, 1989 shootings that killed 14 women at Montreal’s École Polytechnique, won nine awards in total, including Best Motion Picture. Other award winners include Joshua Jackson for his performance in One Week, and Kari Skogland for Adapted Screenplay (Fifty Dead Men Walking).
