Try out celebs’ latest craze – zip-lining!

Celebrities such as Hugh Jackman, Carrie Underwood, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their kids have been enjoying the thrill of zip-lining. For this sport, you’re harnessed to a line at the top at a high altitude and then zoom down to the bottom. If this is something you’ve considered trying, but you’re still unsure about whether you’re brave enough to handle it, you may want to try out the Toronto Zoo’s new TundraAir Ride.

Media were invited to participate today as the ride opened to the public. It gives you a spectacular view over the landscape that includes Tundra animals such as arctic wolves, polar bears and reindeer, soaring at a maximum speed of 48 kilometres per hour. The unique design accommodates up to two people in a seat and is the only cable ride in Ontario where you can ride forwards and backwards in tandem. We watched as children as young as four tried out the ride. Some were unsure at the start, others were enthusiastic, but all were beaming as they stepped off the ride. It gives you a taste of what zip-lining in a harness can be like – we enjoyed the experience and at one to two minutes in length, it’s not a long ride, but exhilarating. Watch the video below to get a feel for what it’s like.
