Tupac may be going on tour – video

By Tribute on April 18, 2012 | 8 Comments

Fans were left in awe when legendary rapper Tupac Shakur performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last weekend alongside Snoop Dogg. Of course, it was all virtual — Tupac has been dead for almost 16 years. Digital effects masters at Hollywood’s Digital Domain created a CGI version of Tupac performing and then used angled reflectors to create the illusion of him appearing live on stage. The visual was so life-like that the video (watch it below) instantly went viral. Now, Snoop Dogg and rapper/music producer Dr. Dre are considering taking the virtual Tupac on an arena tour. The idea is still in the very early planning stages as there are a lot of technical details that need to be figured out first. “Dre has a massive vision for this,” said El Ulbrich, Digital Domain’s chief creative officer. “This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion … [and it] is just the beginning.” Could this be the beginning of a new trend in music? What other dead performers would you like to see resurrected on the stage again? [poll id=”365″]

This reminds me of that movie S1m0ne(2002). For awhile after seeing that, I was second guessing every A-list actor that never did live interviews lol

It’s pretty sad when you think about it. The guy’s dead, and people (his mother, dre, snoop, etc…) are pimping his ass for loot.

Imagine if someone used your hologram to promote a product you truly despise. This is grounds for an ethical discussion.

A holographic collaboration – Tupac and Aaliyah.

@Nobody Important, completely agree. This is an insult to the man’s legacy. He did what he needed to do while he was here. It may not have been all he could have done with his life being cut tragically short, but no one has the right to put out anything on his behalf, especially when he’s not alive anymore to protest the pimping of his name.

Honouring and paying homage to the dead is one thing, but there are betters ways to do it than simulating his likeness.

And oh, I felt guilty for feeling like that. We may feel a desire to rebel against the forces of social and sartorial conformity. I recently decided it would be the perfect outfit to wear to my cousin’s upcoming wedding. As an apprentice, she worked carefully on studying her craft and assisting with mending, making clothes, and making sheets and curtains for Xanadu Weyr.Nor do I think getting rid of ambiguity is the answer either. Still, it functions fine as a bookmark, it was a great learning experience, and best of all it done!May 4, 2012 8:32:26 PMI on a roll! Project number 2 was started last summer, but finally finished just a few days ago.

They were based on the learning module format so text, links, podcasts, etc. Not having enough time to reach your goals is a choice, a decision that you make in terms of which items you deem important. I was not, and am not, talking about this type of auction..
