brad_pittAfter the enormous success of their Twilight franchise, Summit Entertainment wants to take on another vampire movie, this time about the most famous one of all — Dracula. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company has bought the rights to Vlad, by screenwriter Charlie Hunnam. The story focuses on young Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler. Brad Pitt will produce with Dede Gardner through their company, Plan B Entertainment. Pitt is no stranger to the world of vampires, having co-starred with Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire. Summit is hoping to get music-video director Anthony Mandler, who has worked with artists such as Rihanna, The Killers and Eminem, to helm the project.

IIRC Vlad is the somewhat historic re-telling of the life of Vlad Tepes – AKA Vlad The Impaler aka Vlad Dracula – not really a vampire movie
