Veronica Mars Blu-ray review

Fans of the Veronica Mars TV series will be able to enjoy one last ride of nail-biting suspense and mystery with the Veronica Mars movie, which was released seven years after the show ended. The film brings back Neptune’s very own Nancy Drew, a.k.a. Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell), who now lives in New York City and is contemplating a job offer at a prestigious law firm. But her passion for solving puzzling crimes leads her right back home. She is contacted by her ex-boyfriend Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring), a United States navy officer who is accused of murdering his girlfriend Carrie Bishop. The case is connected to the disappearance of Veronica’s best friend nine years ago. As Veronica unravels the mysteries in Neptune, she puts her relationship with her current boyfriend Piz (Chris Lowell) and her job offer at risk.

Fans of the television series will enjoy this double dose of drama and suspense as Veronica tries to wrap her head around the events surrounding her high school friends. The high school reunion scene is more like an ode to the classic series as characters from the show reunite and a few skeletons are revealed. Even though the movie is set nine years later, the film has a teen element to it, as if the characters never grew up. This will, however, undoubtedly appeal to the fans of the show. If you have not seen the show, watching this film will still be an evening well spent, because you don’t need to be familiar with it in order to enjoy the film. Special Blu-ray features include By the Fans: the Making of the Veronica Mars Movie, More On-Set Fun and Deleted Scenes and More.

Other movies releasing on Blu-ray/DVD today include Gloria, Whitewash, The Art of the Steal and Violette. For all the latest DVD releases, click here. ~ Marriska Fernandes
