Photos of teen sensation Demi Lovato have surfaced showing strange marks on her wrist. The photos were taken at Miley Cyrus‘ recent Sweet 16 Birthday Bash at Disneyland last month. It looks like Demi has been cutting herself — most cutters are female and start in their teens — Demi, who starred in the hit Disney Channel TV movie Camp Rock, is 16.
Many people who cut themselves try to explain it away by saying their cat scratched them. These could be cat scratch marks — if Demi was ever near a full grown tiger or lion. (!) Interestingly enough, Demi has been wearing long sleeves to all of her more recent appearances.
Demi, who had very little experience before being cast in Camp Rock, has admitted being bullied in public school to the point where she had to leave. Could she be finding herself overwhelmed by all the attention of suddenly being a teen star? If so, hopefully she finds the help she needs.

Demi Lovato was apparently unaware that her regular drug dealer was in the habit of using dirty drugs he obtained from Mexico, when she called him to her house.
Hmm, I sincerely hope she has an innocent explanation, otherwise, I too hope she will get the help that she needs now that this has been photographed and publicly displayed.
Anything could have made those marks and they’re not very deep. If there was anything really serious or psycho behind the marks she’d be crazy to wear a sleeveless dress, being so in the public eye. Also, if she was a cutter, both arms up and down would be scarred. My friend’s daughter, now in her 30’s, is a cutter and it’s a serious problem. This doesn’t look like a classic case of “cutter arm” to me. Leave it to the media to try to sensationalize a small injury like this!!!
I have a cat and he could easily make those kind of marks, and has! Anything could have done that. I don’t even know how she is, but I feel bad for her that the media can pick up on this little thing and blow it into something sensational.
What a great way to get free publicity in the SICK world of entertainment.
Hopefully the adults surrounding this child look out for her welfare, and recognize a cry for help when they see one. Her Publicist has already released some asinine statement about jelly bracelets.
There will be many people just like this publicist and Disney that just care about the bottom line.
There will be a whole group of blood sucking hangers on that are just there for the money.
This is exactly why I despise Disney, and the crap they put out there for the children today. Like all the high school musical tarts. Trampy Hannah Montana,that kid is so obnoxious she sounds like a 55 year old smoker.
I think it is pretty irresponsible for Tribute to say that she is self-mutilating just because she has some scratches on her arm. If I were Miss Lovato I would be speaking to a lawyer.
oh I just *love* the public eye…if these are marks from cutting (and yes it looks like they could be) then it’s just horrible to be having it publicized all over the internet and wherever else. I’m sure she’s feeling enough guilt and shame as it is. I’m a cutter, I know what’s it like…and it infuriates me that the public wants to jump on every issue a famous person has. They’re humans too and that being the case are subject to various coping mechanisms…some good, some not so good. I do hope that if she is cutting that she works on getting the help now. It does NOT look like a suicide attempt, just cuts which is how it is for most individuals who self-harm. Someone mentioned it would be all over both arms..that’s not necessarily the case either. I cut predominately on my left arm because I am right-handed. I don’t like sharing all this here…but I’m sick and tired of the way the public treats celebrities and not just that but how people in general treat people once they find out they are cutters. I tend to think most people have their vice…for me it’s cutting…others it’s smoking…others it might that they overwork. But cutting has one of the worst stigmas attached to it. Please people educate yourselves a little. It’s a poor coping mechanism, I admit it. She’s obviously dealing with some hurt or pain of some sort in her life and this is a way for her she has found to relieve some of those feelings. I’m going to step off the soapbox now because I could go on forever on this. It bothers me enough the shame and guilt people feel because of the stigma attached to this but it angers me even more that someone would post pictures on the internet speculating this of a celebrity. Can people not remember they are human too and try to have a little respect for them.
I disagree on the “crap” Disney puts out today. Bolt, Wall-E, Prince Caspian….not near enough room here to list their HUGE accomplishments for kids, pre-teens, even adults who enjoy their timeless classics.
Your “tart, tramp” attached to the actors in High School Musical and Hannah I think is way off line too.
Personally, I find Disney an enormous, solid contributor to the entertainment field. To trash them on the merit of a few “let’s look with our magnifying glasses in the closet and see what we can dirt we can dig up” media articles is, in my opinion, grossly unfair.
Well R, if Lovato spoke to a lawyer as you say, then she would be wasting her money. If you read the article, it doesn’t say conclusively that she is a cutter. It’s asking if you think she is, based on the photo. Personally, it looks like she is one to me. And having it publicized may start her on the road to getting some help.
I met a young lady who cut herself the same way to offset the physical pain against her emotional pain.
I suspect that the this teenager is crying out for meaning and help.
I pray that she would find a person who could introdue her to the Lord Jesus Christ, who also is familiar with the process that whould allow Jesus to enter into her pain areas and bring healing. It’s the best and lasting Way to find restoration in such a condition. He is the best healer around and He brings great peace to the hearts and minds of troubled individuals. He does work miracles; I know, because I am one of them.

Why we are even giving these people the attention that they are craving is beyond me. Whatever this kid’s problem is, she’s dealing with it in her own way and that’s none of our concern. I’m ashamed to be reading it myself, I can’t fathom the people who go out of their way to make this a major headline. There’s much more in this world that people should know about other than some little brat who got sad one day and decided to let everybody know about it.
I think it’s a bit hasty to be confirming that she is self-harming. One other source mentioned that she was wearing tight gummy bracelets that made indentations on her wrist; however, this could very well be made-up too. If in fact, she is actually engaging in self-mutilation, perhaps it’s best to respect her privacy and hope that she gets the help that she needs.
What I think is sad is that a lot of teens are doing this kind of self mutilation because it’s a trend. Not all teens are doing this but some are. This picture might actually cause many more to think that since she does it and she is well known, maybe it’ll be cool if they do it as well.
What parents need to do right now is talk with their teens about self mutilation. Even if they don’t think their child ever will.

Those look like puppy scratches to me. I’d believe she had a larger puppy over self-mutilation any day.
LMFAO nancy ! yeah, so whats up with that jo? anyways, to me, it does look like she is a cutter. we are not talking about miley cyrus or HSM so those of you that feel the need to trash them just because they are disney, are idiots. if you dont like it, dont watch it. clearly the only reason youre talking bad about them is because youre jealous that at such a young age they became much more successful and made more money than you will in your entire adult life. but anyways, back to the story. i believe she is a cutter, and she probably just became one recently. thats why theres only a few marks. or, if she is not just new to this, she probably has marks at the tops of her legs, like some people i know. just because you cant see other marks, doesnt mean they arent there, and doesnt mean shes not a cutter.
