Woody Allen called out twice for rape allegations

Woody Allen at the 69th Annual Cannes Film FestivalIt’s certainly been a banner week for Woody Allen.

Or not. At the opening of the Cannes Film Festival, Allen was the butt of a very awkward joke made by Master of Ceremony Laurent Lafitte.

“It’s very nice that you’ve been shooting so many movies in Europe, even if you are not being convicted for rape in the U.S.,” Lafitte remarked to a gasping Palais audience.

“Thank you for coming tonight, sir,” he said (in French) to Allen, who had received a standing ovation just minutes before.

Lafitte, who co-stars in Paul Verhoeven’s rape drama Ellen, is believed to have been directing the jab at both Allen and director Roman Polanski, who was infamously convicted of statutory rape of a 13 year old in 1977.

And that’s not all. The Oscar-winning director’s son Ronan Farrow penned a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, titled “My Father Woody Allen and the Danger of Questions Unasked,” about the culture of “impunity and silence” surrounding sexual assault and rape allegations in Hollywood, specifically aimed at Allen and those with whom he still collaborates.

In the article that was published yesterday, Ronan supported his sister Dylan’s claims that Woody molested her when she was a child.

“I believe my sister. This was always true as a brother who trusted her, and, even at 5 years old, was troubled by our father’s strange behavior around her: climbing into her bed in the middle of the night, forcing her to suck his thumb,” he wrote.

Next he criticized the studios, media corporations and actors who’ve continued to work with and support the Annie Hall director.

“Amazon paid millions to work with Woody Allen, bankrolling a new series and film. Actors, including some I admire greatly, continue to line up to star in his movies. “It’s not personal,” one once told me. But it hurts my sister every time one of her heroes like Louis C.K., or a star her age, like Miley Cyrus, works with Woody Allen. Personal is exactly what it is — for my sister, and for women everywhere with allegations of sexual assault that have never been vindicated by a conviction,” he continued.

He also noted that Allen’s latest film Café Society would open the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, with the director and the film’s stars there to represent it — and him.

“There will be press conferences and a red-carpet walk by my father and his wife (my sister),” he said. “He’ll have his stars at his side — Kristen Stewart, Blake LivelySteve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg. They can trust that the press won’t ask them the tough questions. It’s not the time, it’s not the place, it’s just not done.” ~Shelby Morton

It’s disgusting how Hollywood protects its child predators. Not only Allen and Polanski, but also Bryan Singer. Who ever works with these pervs should have their movies boycotted.

You are right. I agree. So I am announcing, starting now, my own personal boycott. I am only one person and it may not be much but I remember reading: the next time you think that one person can’t make a difference just think about when you are in bed at night trying to sleep and there is one mosquito in your bedroom.

I commend Ronan Farrow for continuing to speak out about Woody Allen and his “alleged” molestation of his sister (I say “alleged” because, of course, he’s never been convicted), while those in Hollywood continue to work with him, ignoring the very real possibility that it could be true (as I am inclined to believe) and they may very well be working with a pedophile and rapist. Dylan Farrow has to live with the knowledge of what he did to her and watch respected, established actors flock to him to be in his films. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Allen’s talent, it doesn’t supercede his morality – or lack thereof – and I find it disgusting that actors like Diane Keaton continue to sing his praises, and that younger actors make the decision to work with him.

  4. STOP THE PEDOS • May 12, 2016 @ 5:21 PM

He IS a pedo. “climbing into her bed in the middle of the night, forcing her to suck his thumb,”
Helloooo! –that, and a child speaking out should be enough, but not in pedo America. With their enormous pedo movie ring hiding in pedo hollywood. I got kicked off Facebook trying to expose these f***ers. But no one wants to talk about it.
diane keaton (vomit worthy) is a pedo too and her son (also vomit worthy). Brought up in a big pedo Satan worshiping family.
I won’t even watch a movie with diane keaton. Every time I see her face I gag and want to vomit.
allen makes me puke too. So f***in’ gross.

Admittedly, hiring Miley Cyrus to appear in his movie shows a lack of judgment of Woody’s part, but it doesn’t make him a monster. I doubt Bill Cosby will ever stand trial for the allegations against him, and while there was a mountain of evidence against that guy from the Jackson Five, he ultimately avoided any jail time for his crimes.

  6. Catherine • May 12, 2016 @ 10:30 PM

At least Cosby didn’t assault children. This guy is a monster and so is Roman Polanski.

  7. Snepts • May 12, 2016 @ 10:52 PM

There is no physical evidence Allen assaulted anyone, nor is there any record of “hush money” being paid to Allen’s accusers; all there is is the hearsay of unreliable persons with questionable motives of their own. Many a celebrity has escaped justice despite overwhelming evidence of guilt, but this case was settled due to a paucity of evidence to substantiate the charges.

To Snepts you say there is no evidence do you forget the fact that he took naked pictures of his now wife when she was underage and he was with Mia Farrow. I have never seen any of his movies and I don’t plan to.

  9. Joanne • May 13, 2016 @ 8:01 PM

It is sad that movie going women are not standing up against him in support of women. People continue to look the other way and think he is cool. It is not cool. He is not cool. Do not support him!

  10. Snepts • May 13, 2016 @ 10:18 PM

To Chris, the allegations against Woody don’t pertain to the photos he took of Soon-Yi, and Soon-Yi is not his accuser — his ex-lover Mia Farrow is. You might want to familiarize yourself with the facts of the case before deciding which crimes Allen is charged with…

I can’t stand Woody Allen and Roman Polanski-they should both be in jail. As we all know too well, money and power (and being a male) can get you get you out of nearly anything.
Being a female means you are powerless to these men.

As for Ronan Farrow, he clearly has his own axe to grind; it’s a not so well-kept secret that he is not Woody Allen’s son at all, but rather Frank Sinatra’s. Go here and decide for yourself if Ronan looks like Allen or Ol’ Blue Eyes… http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2554717/Woody-Allen-says-Ronan-Farrow-Frank-Sinatras-child-Mai-Farrow-lied-oath-hits-child-support-paid.html

if a man marries his daughter and he is black the police will probably just shoot him but a star does it it’s okay. shouldn’t we believe the child and let a judge decide if he molested his daughters as in 2. I’m a husband of a sexual survivor who’s uncle/step father molested all 4 girls and their mother knew and did nothing
