J.K. Rowling considering new Harry Potter book

Author J.K. Rowling‘s new adult book, The Casual Vacancy, hits shelves today and although it’s a stretch from the Harry Potter series she created, she isn’t ruling out the possibility of revisiting that wizard world once again. “Harry Potter truly liberated me in the sense that there’s only one reason to write, for me — if I genuinely have something I want to say, and I want to publish it,” Rowling told BBC. “Now if I had a fabulous idea that came out of that world — because I loved writing it — I’d do it.” She was quick to add however, that it wouldn’t necessarily be about the boy wizard himself. “I don’t want to go mechanically back into that world and pick up a load of odds and ends and glue them together and say, ‘Here we go, we can sell this.’ It would make a mockery of what those books were to me.” So, while Harry’s story may be over for the writer, the possibilities are endless for where she may go next. Perhaps more about the next generation of Potters and Weasleys?

OMG yes! Write about Harry and Hermione and Ron’s kids at Hogwarts!

As much as she denies it, if she ever goes back to the Harry Potter series…even if it has nothing to do with HArry Potter himself…it’ll be for the money. No one even knew who she was before those books. Of course she’d wanna milk it as much as she can!

U know what…I’ve read all the books n watched all the movies and i STILL dun see what all the fuss is about

Milk it? This lady is the ’12th richest woman in the U.K.’ I think she’s bought the whole cow. Oh- and the fuss is all about the fact that Rowling wrote probably some of the best “childrens’ literature” of the 20th Century.

I really can’t wait to get my hands on the book.

If J.K. Rowling did write another book with Potter, Weasly connections, I would be one of the first in line to purchase it! I am in my 50’s, and enjoyed each and every book and movie. My daughter and I spent so many wonderful hours reading them aloud to each other when she was younger, and going to see the movies as soon as they came out. My daughter is now 22, and still rereads the books. This series spawned a whole new generation to the wonder of books, fantasy, friendship, loyalty etc… She certainly would not be writing it ‘for the money’!

If she does end up revisiting the wonderful world of Potter, I would personally love to see books about the Marauders – and of course, Snape and Lily! – while they were in school. Although I really don’t think anybody would be that keen on becoming a fan of young Peter.

I would love to see a story about the previous generations of Potters, ie Lily and James and Snape
growing up and going to Hogwarts,
Snape’s actions and motivations in the 7 books were always suspect until the end, so to see how he became who he was, this seeming villian unmasked at the end as a hero, well, that is a story I would love to read.

If JK returns to the magical world I hope she writes about Dumbledore and Grendevald and their great feud and duel.

I had no idea about her new book though.

She has to go back to Harry….her attempt to write a book for grown ups…..FLOP…..FLOP :))

I think she should write adult version when they’ve all grown up. Besides the child actors will need a reunion movie by then. aka:a job.

I didn’t see the fuss too.

I would personally love to see her pull a George Lucas and do a Harry Potter expanded universe allowing other writers to write stories in the Harry Potter world all under her supervision.

Even though we got glimpses of Tom Riddle/Voldermort, I always thought it would be interesting to see a prequel to the entire series as to how Tom Riddle was left to the orphanage and seeing his childhood and knowing more about Snape and Dumbledore’s relationship through and through. Multi-focusing on the characters that would eventually have a central part to the latter series would give a better insight and probably allow readers/viewers to understand where things went wrong and possibly even feel emotionally connected to Tom Riddle; Wouldn’t mind seeing how Dumbledore’s killed his sister in that great battle with the wand.

You know what? I’ve always said that I can appreciate what the series is. One series of books I would love to see hit the big screen is R.A Salvatore’s “The Legend Of Drizzt” make it a “Harry Potter” for grown ups rated R as it should be. Have the best fighting and cinematography ever, along with music and acting. Work closely with R.A Salvatore and start from Book 1 “Homeland” that would be a dream for me to see and to work on 🙂 maybe one day 🙂

Enough already!!! It was fun while it lasted, bury it now while it is still good, Besides I think the characters are gettung a little too old for this and can you say type casting for their future!

Don’t do it! There are TOO MANY Potter books as it is!

I LOVE the Harry Potter books and the movies they are inspiring. I also hope to one day (when he’s older) get my son interested in the books they are amazingly well written. If J.K. Rowling ever writes another story from that world I would be so at the store looking for it! Any of the characters would be awesome including Harry, Hermonie, Ron’s kids. It would be interesting to go back to Hogwarts with the next generation!

Her ‘adult’ novel is getting fantastic reviews and selling very well, in what world is that a flop?

  19. Mona • September 28, 2012 @ 10:06 PM

I agree with K’s comment – she’s one of the wealthiest women in the entire world, so I’m pretty damn sure making more money isn’t really something she ever has to be concerned about for the rest of her life. Not to mention, her true fans recognize the brilliance of the entire series could never have shone through if she were only in it to make a buck to begin with. As in, it’s obvious the series was written with absolute passion, love, and dedication to the story. THAT’S why us fans want more books, because we love and cherish the world she created for us. If you’re not a fan, don’t read the books, and keep your insulting comments to yourselves!
