J.K. Rowling’s secret accidently released by law firm

J.K. Rowling’s secret is out, and the people who couldn’t keep their mouths shut have been revealed. A British law firm admitted that one of its partners inadvertently revealed that Robert Galbraith, author of The Cuckoo’s Calling, is actually the pseudonym for the famed Harry Potter novelist. The Sunday Times was tipped off by a tweet from Judith Callegari, who has since deleted her account (@JudeCallegari). So how did this mother of two from Surrey, England, who has absolutely no connection to Rowling, find out the secret? It appears that Chris Gossage, a lawyer at Russells Solicitors, which reps Rowling, told his wife. The wife told her best friend Judith, who then posted the tweet. Russells recently published a statement apologizing for the slip-up. “Whilst accepting [Gossage’s] own culpability, the disclosure was made in confidence to someone he trusted implicitly,” it reads. “On becoming aware of the circumstances, we immediately notified JK Rowling’s agent. We can confirm that this leak was not part of any marketing plan and that neither J.K. Rowling, her agent nor publishers were in any way involved.”

Rowling herself expressed anger, saying, “Only a tiny number of people knew my pseudonym and it has not been pleasant to wonder for days how a woman whom I had never heard of prior to Sunday night could have found out something that many of my oldest friends did not know.”

Before the revelation, The Cuckoo’s Calling had garnered good reviews and sold hundreds of copies, but Rowling’s name attachment has boosted sales by a landslide, getting it to the top of bestselling lists and persuading publisher Little , Brown and Company to commission a new printing of 300,000 extra copies. ~Naomi Leanage

Bah, I know of people who have real problems to worry about. Not saying that the legal rep. is blameless, but how long can you expect to keep something like this a secret. Worst case scenario, she makes another load of money. Cry me a river.

OK, the lawyer’s wife needs to give her head a shake… and also get a new best friend. I mean, you tell your friend a secret that risks your husband’s career and she responds by TWEETING IT TO THE UNIVERSE????? Did you know she was an untrustworthy blabbermouth before you told her?

Rowling needs to find a new law firm. How can you stick with one that you can even trust.

Apparently Attorney Client Privilege is trumped by wifey’s right to know. I did hear that Mark’s and Spencer is hiring. Mr Gossage should get his name in there right away.
