The 34-year-old, Britain-born actor recently had the title role in last year’s Ben-Hur remake and is on longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli’s radar. The Daily Mail reports that a source close to the producer says, “It’s just finding the actor. In fact, she doesn’t care what color he is. Black, brown or white. She just wants a great actor.”
Golden Globe-winner and fellow British actor Idris Elba was rumored for a time to be top of the list of actors to play Bond, but his high-level of fame has reportedly ruled him out. Bookies have also recently been betting on the likes of Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy to take the up the iconic role, but those also haven’t been confirmed.
Jack Huston is certainly the right age for the part and, since he is so young, has the capability to suit up for multiple sequels — should he do a good job of playing the role, of course. He also has the tall, dark, “traditional” good looks for the character that remind us of the days of Pierce Brosnan. Oh, and he’s British, naturally.
And what about Daniel Craig? The actor has yet to confirm himself whether he would suit up again as 007, but is reportedly, “keener to do it than not.”
With 007 franchise writers Neil Purvis and Robert Wade penning the new film, production is set to begin next fall. As fans anxiously await with bated breath to see who will be their next Bond, here’s hoping that no matter who it is, they do the franchise justice. ~Alexa Caruso
