Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa tops weekend box office

Paramount’s Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa topped the weekend box office with $32 million and a Tribute rating of 3.8 stars. The R-rated comedy, which debuted on Friday, stars Johnny Knoxville as 86-year-old Irving Zisman as he embarks on a road trip across America with his grandson Billy. Dropping to second place was last week’s top film, Gravity. The space thriller garnered another $20.3 million over the weekend, pushing the total gross earnings to a solid $122.32 million. The film received a Tribute rating of 3.2 stars. Taking third place was Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks as the Maersk Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips. The film earned $11.8 million and scored a high Tribute rating of 4.5 stars. The Counselor, which also made its debut this weekend, secured the fourth spot, garnering $8 million and a Tribute rating of 2.3 stars. Taking the fifth place is animated flick Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. The sequel earned $6.1 million and a Tribute rating of 4.2 stars.

Rounding out the top ten are Carrie, Escape Plan, 12 Years a Slave, Enough Said and Prisoners. ~ Marriska Fernandes
