Jake Gyllenhaal heartbroken over breakup

Jake Gyllenhaal‘s heart has been crushed by his breakup with Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon called off the romance with the actor, who according to FemaleFirst, was ready to make her his bride. Inside sources say the two stars split a month ago, reportedly because Witherspoon doesn’t want to marry again, and Gyllenhaal wanted to be married. Reese Witherspoon was married to actor Ryan Phillippe for several years, and they had two children, Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6. Apparently, the two megastars weren’t moving toward a common goal. “It broke his heart. She felt pressured to wed again but she wasn’t ready. She couldn’t give Jake enough and she got cold feet. Jake wanted all of her,” revealed a source. “She really worried that they didn’t have enough in common. When she was giving all of her energy to Jake, she felt like she wasn’t giving her kids enough.” Reportedly, the Legally Blonde star also began to doubt Gyllenhaal’s abilities as a stepfather. “He was great with the kids, but she felt like he didn’t get the whole scope of what that entailed,” added the source. ~Patricia Gougeon

Never judge a book by its cover. I can understand her feelings and if it is meant to be it will maybe not now but in the future. He needs to understand that she was married and it is commitment she is not ready to get into whereas he never had it.

Why “typical chick”? were you there for all of their conversations? She may have told him right off the bat that she doesn’t want to marry again, and he may have assumed she would change her mind … nice to judge without all the facts 🙂

Well, if they both have different views of how they wish their future to be, then splitting is probably the right thing. He’ll get over it and move on, and hopefully find someone with the same dreams that he has. And hopefully she can find what it is that she’s looking for in life.

I’ve been doing great, mandee. Sorry to hear about your course….chin up though, think positive. Eventually, it will all come together. I’m totally ready for Christmas! Spent this afternoon wrapping a bunch of gifts and expect to spend tomorrow afternoon the same way, LOL.

glad youre doing well too nancy ! its been a tough few weeks for me, been realllly hard to try to think positively. im not even really in the christmas spirit this year. not sure if its because im getting older or what. same as last year. mine are all wrapped and all under their trees lol. 4 trees in my house 😛 maybe ill get into the spirit again once i have kids of my own. by the way, yes Merry Christmas everyone.
It’s a hard time of year, mandee, especially if you are out of work, because that just adds to the stress. I’m not ready yet, but getting there. Have some more things to buy, and I am NOT a shopper! I hate shopping! Finally got the tree up and decorated, the house has been decorated for awhile. Haven’t even mailed out my cards yet! Guess the ones that have far to go just might not make it in time this year! Haven’t baked a single thing, we will make cookies on the 23rd or 24th, but all my other baking will be done for me 😉 I did get all my groceries today though, which is great.
Sad really — they looked like such a great couple, not vying for the press. A woman cheated on by her husband is so damaged and careful, if not too careful when the next man comes along. Maybe they will get together again — but Reese obviously has some real reasons to end the relationship. Sad for both.
Aww…that sucks, not that I know him or anything–duh–but Jake seems nice…Also, elaborating on the comment by alyson, doesn’t it seem kind of stupid that if she–Reese–keeps this “being afraid” up that she’ll never even have a chance and/or give others a chance to get close to her? Not saying necessarily that she has to go running off and marry the guy immediately but she could give his viewpoint a chance at least.
