James Bond Skyfall casting news

By Alexandra Heilbron on November 25, 2011 | 6 Comments

British actor Ben Whishaw has been cast as MI6 gadget master Q in the newest Bond film, entitled Skyfall. Q was previously played by John Cleese in the 2002 Bond film, Die Another Day, and prior to that, by Desmond Llewelyn. In the films, Q is the one who provides hi-tech gadgets and unique spy apparatus to James Bond. Although in the past, the character has always been older than Bond, Whishaw is only 31, while Daniel Craig, who will reprise his role as Bond in the latest installment, is 43. Also cast in the film, which starts filming this month, are Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem. Skyfall is set to open in North America on November 9, 2012.

Should have stuck with tradition and have an older actor play Q.

That’s old age thinking all of the gadgets and electronic toys are easily figured out by kids today not their parents or grand parents. i think it will be fun to see Bond schooled by a mere kid

Hah, they should-have cast a 14 year old for the part.

Well, I was only in my early Forties(early 90’s) when a real computer came out and I could have taken quite a lot of Courses since then. Then around the beginning of this century I Self-Learned a Lot of computer things – so Now That I’m Old does that mean I don’t know anything about it. That is So ignorant saying older people don’t know about it/or very much. We were young when you were a child/teen/young adult. If you would’ve done some reseach before you commented, you’d realize older people have been around Long Enough to know quite a bit about it. I see older people from my generation make extensive comments in a lot of blogs! Also I Easily figure out a Lot of gadgets because of my computer background.

I guess what Rita’s trying to say is that she’s disappointed she’s not the next Q. Just think how she could rescue James Bond with her extensive knowledge of quote/unquote “computer things” and blogging.
