Sopranos star James Gandolfini died today while on vacation in Rome. He was 51 years old. He is believed to have suffered a massive heart attack. The actor won three Emmy Awards as best lead actor in a drama series for his portrayal as mob boss Tony Soprano on the HBO series The Sopranos and had been about to start work on an upcoming HBO series called Criminal Justice. HBO released a statement that read: “Our hearts are shattered and we will miss him deeply. He and his family were part of our family for many years and we are all grieving.” Gandolfini had most recently appeared on the big screen in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Not Fade Away. He leaves behind his wife of five years, Deborah Lin, their nine-month-old daughter Liliana and a 13-year-old son, Michael, from his first marriage. ~Alexandra Heilbron

Sorry to hear of your loss, Linus. It’s difficult to lose your spouse so young. In Mr. Gandolfini’s case, it could have been his weight. Or maybe he had a genetic defect, it’s hard to say until the autopsy comes in. Bad hearts run in some families. His son seems to be overweight as well, hopefully he can get that under control and get healthy so the same thing doesn’t happen to him. Once you know it’s in your family, it’s good to take precautions. It’s really, really sad to have a parent die who still has minor children.
