Jamie Foxx in line to star in Annie remake

Will Gluck, director of Easy A and Friends with Benefits, is set to direct an Annie remake that could include Jamie Foxx in the cast as Daddy Warbucks. The production stars Oscar-nominated Quvenzhané Wallis from Beasts of the Southern Wild in the title role and Foxx is in line to play the renamed version of Warbucks — “Benjamin Stacks.” Warbucks is the kindly but extremely wealthy businessman who takes orphan Annie under his care and protection – giving himself someone to spend his stacks of money on. This version of the film will be set in present day and Jay-Z, Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith will produce the film through their Overbrook Entertainment company. Shooting is due to begin this fall in preparation for release over Christmas 2014. ~Sarah Dos Santos

So…….. a BET version of Annie?

This will be more awkward for white people to see than Django.

I hate that they’re changing his name and I don’t think Foxx has the kindliness required for the role. I also don’t know how this kid is going to have red hair. Or are they changing that too? Little Orphan Annie with black hair? Maybe they’ll do (ruin) Anne of Green Gables next.

@Janice, Anne of Green Gables has already been ruined.
I saw in the news a few months ago that a company changed her into a sexy blonde teen. -_-

Re-boots can work and some do not. I’ll save judgment until I see the movie…which I likely won’t.
