Jamie Lee Curtis blames Miley’s parents

Jamie Lee Curtis and Miley CyrusJamie Lee Curtis has spoken up to defend Miley Cyrus, saying she knows what it’s like to be manipulated by a magazine. “I too was a little embarrassed by my recent topless ‘scandal’ and the subsequent parodies,” Curtis, 49, wrote for The Huffington Post, “but I am an adult woman. I protected myself during the shoot and I can take the heat. I only wish that her guardians had protected her.” Curtis posed for AARP magazine in a strapless dress, only to find out later that the photo had been digitally altered to give the impression that she’d posed nude. During Miley Cyrus’ photo shoot for Vanity Fair, she posed with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, but her parents left the shoot before the final photos of Miley in a bed sheet were taken, leaving only Miley’s grandmother and teacher there with the teen. “Of course she is embarrassed. She is a young girl. She shouldn’t have to deal with any of this,” writes Curtis. “I know there were people present at the shoot that should have been looking out to make sure that this didn’t happen.”

She looks beautiful but most of her fans are aged 5-10. Can you imagine a 10-year-old girl posing like that in her mirror, trying to look ‘sexy like Miley’? What will the girl be like at 13? Posing for her boyfriends camera?

I wonder if she can sue the magazine or stop them from printing the photos in the next issue. I have totally lost respect for Vanity Fair. Boycott people!

theres nothing wrong with the vanity fair pictures.

Well yes, one would think that either Grandma, the teacher or Miley herself would have gotten on their cell and called her parents when asked to take her clothing off! I do not believe for one second that Miley Cyrus, who is 15 years old and in the business she is in, is naive enough to strip her clothing off for photos and not realize it is wrong….my 11 and 8 year olds know better than that, so come on!! Sure an adult should have stepped in to protect her, but she is not a small child…she deserves SOME of the blame at least. Jamie Lee Curtis was totally deceived…she wore clothing and the photo was altered…big difference compared to Miley’s photos, but yes her grandmother should have stepped in of course.

She knew what she was getting into. Now she’s doing damage control.
Digital photos – she saw them.

Leibovitz’s photographs were beautifully shot but I have to agree that while the images were not vulgar, they were inappropriate for someone of Miley’s age. It definitely hurts her credibility as a positive role model for young girls who should embrace childhood and not be concerned about growing up too fast. From seeing televised interviews of Miley, Miley herself, has claimed that it is extremely important for her to be seen as a positive role model for young girls and that parents are able to feel secure with their kids watching Miley on TV. I think Jamie-Lee is definitely correct with regards to Miley’s parents. Did it ever cross Billy Ray’s mind that the photograph with him and Miley is somewhat suggestive. Then again, Billy Ray doesn’t seem to have it together anyway,

Luckily there is no such thing in the industry as “bad publicity”.

There’s nothing wrong with the pictures. They’re not “topless”. That really has a different connotation. This is more “backless” and not way different from, I don’t know, the dress she wore at the Oscars? She presented at the oscars, right? Anyways, this is a non-controversy, being used to keep this celebrity fresh in everyone’s minds. She’s got a good agent.

Jamie-Lee Curtis is fantastic, she’s one of those rare, “real” ones in Hollywood.
