Javier Bardem joins Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

It’s confirmed. Javier Bardem has officially joined the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean for its fifth installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Javier will play Captain Salazar, leader of the deadly ghost pirates, who is on a mission to kill every pirate that crosses his path – including Jack Sparrow – after escaping the Devil’s Triangle.

Reprising their roles are Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs and Stephen Graham as Scrum. Newcomers joining Javier are Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites and Golshifteh Farahani.

After years of pre-production, production is finally underway in Queensland, Australia with Jerry Bruckheimer producing and Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning directing. The screenplay is being penned by Jeff Nathanson.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sets sail for a July 7, 2017 theatrical release. ~Sandra D. Sukraj
