Jennifer Lawrence cheers on Louisville Cardinals

Jennifer LawrenceJennifer Lawrence cheered on her hometown basketball team on the weekend. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 actress returned to Louisville during the festive season to spend Christmas with her family and took time out from her busy schedule to watch the Louisville Cardinals take on local rivals Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.

The 24-year-old star was pictured grinning from ear to ear as she held up three fingers in salute to her favourite team at the game at the KFC Yum! Center. However, having the backing of a Hollywood actress was not enough for the Cardinals as they lost out to the Wildcats by just eight points.

Jennifer didn’t let the loss ruin her day out though as she was seen chatting with other fans while donning a navy blue T-shirt and red baseball cap emblazoned with the Cardinals’ name and logo. The American Hustle star’s high spirits despite the loss may be the result of being named Hollywood’s highest-grossing actor of 2014 recently.

Jennifer topped Forbes magazine’s annual ranking – which is based on figures from Box Office Mojo – after her blockbuster films The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and X-Men: Days of Future Past pulled in a combined figure of $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office earlier this year.
