The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence and Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Chris Pratt are said to be in early talks for a sci-fi film titled Passengers, to be developed by Sony. Passengers was originally set to star Keanu Reeves and Rachel McAdams. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Morten Tyldum, nominated for an Oscar for directing The Imitation Game, is close to signing on to helm the project.
Variety reports that the story will be set on a spacecraft in the future, with thousands of passengers making an interstellar voyage to a distant new planet. One passenger awakens from cryogenic sleep 90 years before anyone else and decides to wake up a female passenger, sparking the beginning of a love story. Jon Spaihts, who previously co-wrote Prometheus, penned the screenplay for the film.
You can find both of these actors on the big screen this year as Jennifer Lawrence stars in the final installment of The Hunger Games movies, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, opening November 20th. Chris Pratt can be found walking with dinosaurs in this summer’s blockbuster Jurassic World, opening June 12th. ~Andrew Siwik
