Jennifer Lawrence hurt by ‘fat’ remarks

Jennifer Lawrence, 23, told Harper Bazaar U.K. that at the beginning of her career, she was told she had to lose weight: “I was young. It was just the kind of s–t that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. It was just that.” Just because The Hunger Games actress won an Academy Award, it doesn’t mean she can let go of those weight-obsessed remarks. She revealed that someone brought it up recently, and she admitted that being called fat still hurts her, saying, “They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me. That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I’m above it all. ‘You really still care  about that?’ Yeah. I was a little girl. I was hurt. It doesn’t matter what accolades you get. I know it’ll never happen to me again. If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet,’ I’m like, ‘You can go f**k yourself.’” Now that’s the spirit. What do you think?

Pretty has nothing to do with weight! I’m sure she was always pretty!

She’s not fat and never has been. She’s not skinny by Hollywood standards, but she has a perfect figure and is way more attractive than those skin and bones stick figure model types.

I really like Jennifer Lawrence but deal with it! That’s what you have to go through when you are in Hollywood. And guess what, if you are overweight you probably won’t be as successful in Hollywood. Is society too hard on actresses and actors about their image? Yes. But it is reality.

Sometimes emotional scarring hurts more and lasts longer than physical scars.
I think she’s damn near perfect woman.

@david is right. Its the reality of Hollywood deal with it. For everyone saying weight dont matter I bet they rather look like Jennifer Lawrence than Gabourey Sidibe or Melissa McCarthy who are both likely as talented as Jennifer Lawrence but wont ever get offered any lead role in romantic/action blockbusters like Hunger Games. So while Jeniffer Lawrence is without a doubt my favorite actress (love her best in Winter’s Bone and been a fan since) I mean cry me a river! So loose a few pounds (must have been a tiny weeny bit cuz sh did noit chnage much) and become a star earning tens of millions a year! Wow the ordinary folks on the street should reallly feel bad. why dont you trade with taxi cab driver? Hollywood is built on a fairy tale image so if you getting in the business then hey you know what you getting into. Its like a cop getting mad if his force says stop eating so many donuts and packing all those unhealthy pounds around you waist and the cop getting mad and hurt and saying well it does not affect my ability to make and arrest or shoot a know what sometime it does affect it! So Jen you can star in Hunger Games precisely because you don not look like Gabourey Sidibe (see weight does matter sometimes), I guess you would be happy if she demanded that she get the starring role in your place because you only got it because you are skinnier and whiter than her? Its called life kiddo1

May all the beautiful young talent in Hollywood be freed from the curse of skinny….let their talent shine over and above the stigma.

I was watching Super Fun Night yesterday (Rebel Wilson), and I really enjoyed it. The same with Melissa McCarthy’s movies/sitcom. So I guess you can be overweight AND successful in Hollywood. And no, Jennifer Lawrence is definitely NOT fat.
