Jennifer Lawrence is to ‘blame’ for the gender pay gap

Jennifer LawrenceJennifer Lawrence feels she is to ”blame” for the gender wage gap.

The Hunger Games star admits she finds it ”awkward” negotiating her wages and thus believes it is her own fault that there is such a divide between what the film industry pays men and women.

Speaking to Charlie Rose on CBS News, she said: ”I feel awkward negotiating, I feel uncomfortable asking for more money, I don’t want to seem like a brat. I don’t want to seem like all these things that are only words that are used for women. There was no one to blame but myself [for the gender pay gap].

”I want to be that person who will say that thing that’s really hard to say, that’s really awkward and really difficult. One day I want to be able to just say it, and not make a joke, and not try to make it cute, but to just say it.”

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old beauty previously penned an essay about the issue, insisting she should be paid the same as ”people with d***s.”

She wrote: ”When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d***s, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself. I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need. (I told you it wasn’t relatable, don’t hate me).”
