Jessica Simpson does it all – from reality TV star to pop singer to movie actress. Her latest venture takes her into the world of perfume. And love her or hate her as an entertainer, there’s no denying that her aptly named new scent, Jessica’s Fancy, is exquisite. Developed by French perfumer Alexis Dadier, Fancy is a blend of Sandalwood, Vanilla, Jasmine and Gardenia, topped off with notes of Pear and juicy Apricot Nectar. As someone who’s skeptical about celebrity fragrances, I didn’t expect much when I splashed a little on my wrist. Amazingly, I was instantly smitten. It doesn’t have an overtly sweet aroma, like you might expect with ingredients like vanilla, almonds and caramel. It’s an intoxicating floral air, mixed with a light dash of fruit, just enough to make it completely unique. The perfume matches its name, but it’s not so fancy that you won’t feel comfortable wearing it on a daily basis. The bottle is attractive, and at $55 for a 50 ml Eau de toilette Spray it’s completely affordable. (It’s also available in Body Lotion at $35 for 177 ml). Fancy makes a fantastic Christmas gift; that’s if you don’t decide you want to keep it for yourself, once you get a whiff of this heady stuff. It’s available in Canada at Sears and Shoppers Drug Mart — check it out and let us know what you think. ~ Alexandra H.
