Jim Carrey will face trial for death of ex-girlfriend

Jim CarreyJim Carrey will face trial over the death of his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, who passed away in 2015 after committing suicide.

Shortly after her death, allegations followed from Cathriona’s husband and mother, who claimed Carrey assisted her death by providing a deadly concoction of medication. Carrey and his lawyer have vigorously denied any wrongdoing.

“There is absolutely no evidence that Carrey furnished his prescription medications to White. Rather, she stole them,” according to documents filed by Jim’s lawyer, Raymond Boucher. “Sweetman (Cathriona’s mother) and her attorney released the embarrassing information about White solely in an attempt to gain leverage against Carrey.”

The couple separated in 2013 but rekindled their romance in May 2015, before splitting up again four months later. Cathriona died only five days after their relationship ended. After her death, an autopsy report revealed a suicide note she left behind that was addressed to Carrey. She also sent out a very telling tweet (see below), saying goodbye.

When the lawsuit was first filed, the Liar Liar actor released a statement saying, “What a shame. It would be easy for me to get back in a room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honour against the evil in this world.”

On Wednesday, a judge in Los Angeles Superior Court refused to dismiss the wrongful death suits against Carrey, and set a trial date for April 26, 2018. The judge said the case should take approximately 20 days to complete. Carrey and his attorney have stated that the lawsuits are “malicious and predatory.”

“The allegations are based on categorical lies concocted by Sweetman in collaboration with White’s ‘green card’ husband with whom White never lived as husband and wife, and whom she married only to avoid deportation to Ireland.”

After the hearing, Boucher said, “Mr. Carrey loved Ms. White dearly and so obviously it will be a very painful process for him.” ~Brenden Zerihun

watch this one fall from grace once the Truth comes out !
There was a time when this guy was ” Normal ” the same guy
that had no fame or fortune and when his Dad died he wrote a cheque
to his Dad for one million Dollars and put it in his Dads Coffin and
promised his Dead Father he would make it one day
he’s probably glad his Dad isn’t around to see his Fall from Fame and
    probably Fortune as well !

And another one falls from grace. I believe in waiting until all the facts are presented before I’ll condemn him. I have faith in people. Why must everyone automatically believe that just because grieving parents want to take their rage out on someone that it must be the truth?

I’m with Penguin. The truth will prevail. We must keep the faith, if we don’t what do we have? Grief and anger are powerful emotions that make people do questionable things! Mr. Carey in my opinion has his work cut out for him but is also not afraid to speak the truth I appreciate his candor.

The one true statement you can believe in this is “What a shame. It would be easy for me to get back in a room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honour against the evil in this world.” Jim was 100% correct in that he could have went behind closed doors and easily thrown money at the situation to make it go away like everyone else in Hollywood can do. But instead he is going to try and defend himself. That leads me to believe this isn’t cut and dry.

There are far more details that this article does not include, that suggest there was some culbility on his part.

If you’ve never been in a relationship with a covert abusive personality, you can never comprehend the Jekyl and Hyde persona or the ambient psychological abuse that they inflict all the while presenting a different side to the public. But when you have been in such a relationship or when you have counselled the victims of these relationships, the red flags are glaringly obvious in this case.

The judge obviously thought the case had merit.
