Jim Carrey’s daughter passes American Idol tryouts

The American Idol judges were in for a surprise when they stopped in San Diego for auditions. Jane Carrey, 24-year-old daughter of Canadian comedian Jim Carrey, was trying out for a spot on the next season with a rendition of the classic song “Something to Talk About” by Bonnie Raitt. Judge Jennifer Lopez was shocked to see Jane, all grown up. “I remember you when you were little. Do you remember me?” she asked. Lopez first met Jane in the early 90s when she worked alongside Mr. Carrey in the television series In Living Color. The junior Carrey managed to get a Golden Ticket from the judges, who didn’t have to think twice about putting her through. She even put in a call to dad to share the exciting news.

Watch Jane Carrey’s American Idol audition below. Do you think she deserved to make it through or did her famous name help her out just a bit?

She only got through cause of her dad. Total marketing scheme!

Of course she got in because of her last name and now the show will use her to get people to tune in who otherwise wouldn’t (tune in and see how far Jim’s kid will go). People should be granted a spot because of their talent, not their parentage.

She had to audition like everyone else.

I kinda agree, but only to a point. I think she had a great voice but to be fair I have seen other contestants with the same type of talent and they are sent packing. Jane may or may not agree that her dad had a hand to play in all of this but she can show everyone what she has and earn that spot she has. Im a huge Jim Carey fan so…. GRATZ to the Carrey family. lol

If she used her ex-husband’s name she wouldn’t be on the show still.

On Jim Carey’s daugher Jane. She didn’t get picked from the audience not wait in any line for a chance. She get special priviliges because of her famous father (she is not the only one – Jordan Sparks for one. She sang as good as any teenage girl in the H.S. auditorium. It was fixed. Not watching American Idol every again.
