Jimmy Fallon has been named Entertainment Weekly‘s Entertainer of the Year thanks to his stellar first year as host of The Tonight Show. The Saturday Night Live alum has had a banner year since he took over the gig from veteran Jay Leno, garnering critical acclaim and millions of YouTube hits. Just to give you an idea of how popular the late night show has become, it was recently announced that one of his popular skits, “Lip-Sync Battle,” is getting its own spin-off on Spike.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jimmy revealed that he’s so busy he barely has time to register what he’s done in the last 12 months. “It’s so fast and hectic and busy,” he said. “None of us really realize what we’re doing as we’re doing it.”
He also confessed that all those millions of YouTube hits do nothing to increase his weekly paycheck. “I’m not getting more money if I do a bit that goes viral,” he admit. “No one is. I don’t get anything. Not even a Starbucks gift card—nothing! We’re in it for the fun of it. If I do ‘Ew!’ with will.i.am, it’s for fun.” ~Kelly Townsend
