Joan Rivers blasted for domestic violence joke

By Tribute on August 27, 2012 | 3 Comments

While Joan Rivers is known for her brazen sense of humor, the comedian may have gone too far when she made a joke about domestic violence following Rihanna’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, where the singer admitted she was still in love with Chris Brown. In the interview, Rihanna opened up to Oprah, telling her that Brown was the love of her life. “It’s awkward. I still love him,” she said. “My stomach drops. I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the other part of me.” Rihanna and Brown’s relationship ended in 2009 when Brown was arrested for assaulting her. Unfortunately, Rihanna’s interview did not sit well with Rivers, who tweeted, “Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it’s MY turn to slap her.” Not even two hours after the tweet, Rihanna fans began blasting the 79-year-old comedian for making such an insensitive joke, calling Rivers “ignorant” and “foul.” Although Rihanna is quite vocal on Twitter, she did not respond to Rivers’ tweet directly. However, the singer did post a photo of Proverbs 15:4 entitled “Control Your Speech” — perhaps this can be interpreted as her response. ~Isabelle Khoo

Leave Joan alone. She has an abrasive sense of humor always has, get used to it or get off her twitter. I love her jokes and people should learn to take a joke as a joke. I think a lot of the world was flabbergasted at Rihanna’s admittion and this is Joans’ way of trying to “shake it out of her” with humor.

Rihanna is an idiot, well done Joan! Truth hurts sometimes, but then again so did the window!

I liked Joans comment. It is just saying stay away from CB because the potential is still there for it to happen. It’s words and it was funny at that. Plus it’s double meaning, for having a 79 yr old piece of plastic who knows better than her, giving her a smack lol. It’s funny.
