John Mayer writes about Jennifer Aniston break-up

By Tribute on May 2, 2012 | 2 Comments

It may have taken a while but John Mayer is finally ready to let go of Jennifer Aniston and he’s doing it the only way he knows how — through song. According to US Weekly, “Shadow Days,” the first single from his new album, Born and Raised, was inspired by his heartbreak over losing Aniston. A source tells the magazine, “He wrote the song as a farewell letter knowing [Jen] would hear it. Ultimately he’s done a lot of self reflection and he knows that they weren’t right for each other.” Mayer and Aniston began dating in 2008 but after several break-ups they ended things for good in late 2009. Aniston is currently dating her Wanderlust co-star, Justin Theroux, whom she’s rumored to be engaged to. After several high-profile relationships, Mayer says he’s not looking to date another famous woman. ~Kyle Sharp

I have nothing against him or his music, but this is just another cheap trick to generate interest in his music. I don’t believe this guy suffered from their break-up. They didn’t really appear to be genuinely connected. No matter how chummy they looked, body language doesn’t lie.

I know you say body language doesn’t lie, but they have to act a certain way in public. Outside of public, it’s different. Maybe it’s possible he had one foot in the relationship and one foot out the entire time because he wanted as many different women as possible. Whatever the case, he wrote one of the best songs he’s ever written. It’s a great, great song. You can feel it.
