Johnny Depp blasts reality shows

By Tribute News on April 2, 2014 | 10 Comments

Johnny Depp Johnny Depp hates reality shows. The 50-year-old actor is mystified by the modern world's obsession with material goods and reality star icons, and believes the shallow craze will be the downfall of society in a few years' time. He mused to Interview magazine: ''It's really frightening. And when you see all this stuff that goes on in the commercials - the endless commercials - people yelling down your gob, 'Buy this, do this, this will save you, this will fix you.' Everything can be a reality show now. Imagine what's it going to be in 20 f***ing years, man.'' Johnny also went on to apparently slam fame hounds like the Kardashians and Paris Hilton by lamenting that talentless socialites have become idols to a whole generation thanks to the phenomenon that is reality TV. He added: ''People get famous now for I-don't-know-what. People have reality shows because they're a Hollywood socialite, and these things become very successful and they generate a s**tload of money for the company. And it's multiplying, to where you're literally looking into your next door neighbor's bathroom with reckless abandon. It is like watching a fire. You can't take your eyes off of it.''

Yup, he’s is 100% correct! We celebrate the selfish, egotistical, conceited types like Kim K and give them a whole series of TV shows?! For what?! (Shes famous for having sex and releasing a tape of that to the public!!) Most “reality” shows hi-light the lowest elements in our society – it’s disgusting!!

Really? It bothers Depp that much? So there are like, what, 1,000 celebrities, in a population of how many hundred million, and he is worried about the downfall of civilization? Get over yourself Johnny Depp.

Very much agree with Johnny. People without talent becoming celebrities and idols without actually earning it…

Are you really complaining about viewer’s attention Johnny?
You can voice for your industry but it’s the masses who decide, opinion or not.

… because if you are, you’re saying people can’t think for themselves.

I wonder if my biggest hero (I’m talking about Johnny Depp, obviously) has ever heard of my fav reality show BAR RESCUE?

I agree with Johnny. Decades ago I watched the first episode of Survivor, thought it to be the most ridiculous thing ever, and have never watched another reality show since. But even flicking through the channels one can’t help but see the idiocy of so many reality shows from Duck Dynasty to Tiara Moms, and Jon and Kate plus 8, and Little People. It’s like going to the circus to see the freak Show. Even just flicking past them on the remote irrirtates me, and hearing so many people talk about them irritates me even more. I want to tell people to live their OWN lives, and not vicariously through the boobtube.
