Johnny Depp horrified by child performers

Johnny Depp says he would be “horrified” if either of his children expressed a wish to follow in his footsteps. He told CNN that he and his partner, French actress/singer Vanessa Paradis, feel that a career is showbusiness is too full of heartbreak. “I’d be horrified,” he told the news outlet. “Once you’ve sort of been on the campus grounds for as long as any of us have, you have a great understanding of the amount of rejection that is involved initially and right on through.” Depp went on to talk about what kind of profession he’d like his children to pursue. “You would hope that they would want to do something a little more… you want your kid to be Picasso, you want your kid to be a great painter or great poet,” he says. “You don’t want them to have a boss.” Depp’s new movie, the animated feature Rango, opens March 4th.
