Jonas Brothers launch girls’ clothing line

jonas_bros.jpgTheir concert movie was a box office failure, but the Jonas Brothers are already moving on to their next project — releasing a girls’ clothing line named “Jonas,” according to Women’s Wear Daily. “When you look at their customer following, we have the whole heartthrob play, which is a great thing for us to work with when we are talking about tween girls,” said Pamela Lifford, executive vice president of Global Fashion & Home at Disney. “The Jonas Brothers are a lifestyle, not just a boy band. Their movie lets you into their world, and the clothing line is just another way to do that — it’s a way to get closer to them and their world.” However, she admitted that the boys will not be involved in designing the clothes, which instead will be influenced by the characters they play on their upcoming Disney TV show, rather than their real-life personas.

Jonas Bros. are a lifestyle? Buy what you’re selling to be closer to them? May delude some tween girls in believing that..
    Hope this idea tanks too.

demigod, ALL advertising is deluding people into believing buying the product makes them special/different/closer to something in some way. Look at Axe product advertising, or any beer brand, or Apple products. Its all the same.

it’s hard to get into this when you’re not a “tween” however I think they’re harmless entertainment obviously enjoyed by a lot of young people, so why not a clothing line?

    more power to them…

demigod, I do agree with your point that it does seem a bit ridiculous for kids to believe they will be closer to someone if they buy clothes with a name on it (if that was your major point.) I was just commenting on the fact that all advertising is manipulative and preys on our insecurities to sell a product. Hopefully the parents of these kids will help them realize that. Sure the Jonases seem like nice wholesome kids and are good entertainment, but it is a bit sad to see young kids get sucked into “the lifestyle” thing and be trained for “celeb worship”. I wouldn’t want them to turn into adults who spend all their time following celebs and worrying about what they do all the time. In other words, turn into us! haha.
