Joseph Gordon-Levitt furious with GQ

Although Joseph Gordon-Levitt appears on the August 2012 cover of GQ, he’s not happy about the magazine’s featured article. The Dark Knight Rises star states that the writer misrepresented his older brother Dan’s death, describing it as “an alleged drug overdose.” While Joseph is quoted in the article stating the death was an accident, he is deeply upset over the writer’s choice of words. In response, Joseph wrote his personal comments on his blog. “Using the word ‘alleged’ technically allows the writer to say whatever she wants,” he wrote Tuesday afternoon. “The ‘allegations’ to which she must be referring were made by a handful of gossip websites. They are factually incorrect according to the coroner’s office and the police department. I don’t like publicly speaking about my brother’s death, but I’m making an exception to correct this irresponsible claim.” Dan was a 36-year-old fire-spinning flow artist who was found unresponsive in his home in October 2010 and later pronounced dead. While Joseph described his brother’s life and personality in detail during the interview, the writer instead chose to focus on his death. In his final comments about the article, he posts, “My parents and I are disappointed with what the article chose to focus on regarding this sensitive subject.” ~Isabelle Khoo
