Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Batman role announced

After much speculation in the media and amongst fans, Warner Bros. and director Chris Nolan have finally announced what role Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to play in the new Batman movie, entitled The Dark Knight Rises. He’ll portray John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon. John Blake is apparently a character that was never featured in the comics. Also announced was the casting of Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors. Reprising their roles from the earlier films are Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and Nestor Carbonell as Gotham Mayor Anthony Garcia. Other new cast members include Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as the villain, Bane. The Dark Knight Rises is set for release on July 20, 2012. Are you looking forward to it now that you know who’s in the cast?

I’m going to see it no matter who is in it. Nolan has done such a wonderful job on the first 2 films, I’m sure he will keep it going with the third. What makes these movies work is they have great writing and are more about the characters than the the toys and gizmos. GO BATMAN!!!

Miranda Tate will actually be Talia Al Ghul. Kinda like Henri Ducard = Ras Al Ghul in Batman Begins. Just Speculation on my part lol

highly anticipating this one, love the Batman series, and the addition of both Levitt and Cotillard to the already stellar cast only adds more interest for me…

That should have saved him to re-play the Joker in a future movie…he is a “dead ringer” for Heath Ledger…no pun intended.

I will see it no matter what..but Gordon-Levitt as a beat cop? Talented actor I hope he gets good screen time that’s meaningful. What about Michael Caine? Is he back in it? 3 Inception stars?? Either way, Chris Nolan is amazing talent for writing with his brother and obviously filming it as well, so it should rock. Kill Marvel movies!

btw, will Joseph Gordon-Levitt return for G.I.Joe sequel? 2 comic book type movies? Might be too much for the guy.
